Confederate Rose As A Privacy Fence?

I was wondering if anyone had ever tried to turn a CR into a fence by trimming and shaping it? Will these guys get dense? or do they prefer to remain untouched?

    Don't they die back in the winter in your area? Not much privacy then, I'd warrant.

    They probably don't die back -- mine don't, but the lose their leaves. I have to cut mine back each winter or it would be 15' tall -- the height it was when I purchased my house.

    At the very least, they lose all their leaves. When I was in SC z7, they died back.
