Hibiscus Not Coming Back

Posted by janycep 5 (My Page) on

I planted several Hibiscus plants last year that thrived. They haven't started back this year. We cut them back and they seem dead. Will they come back? Am I being too impatient being in zone 5?

RE: Hibiscus Not Coming Back

If they are tropical hibiscus they died when they lost their leaves. If they are temperate hibiscus they will still need more time before growth is seen in your zone. Mine is just starting to see growth on the ground where the plant is and thats in a zone 7, so you may not see any growth on yours until early june. Flowers usually appear sometime after the fourth of july. Good luck.
