How to Prune -

i was reading that flower buds only grow on new growth on Hibiscus ; mine was blooming fine - nice big red flowers ; but then it stoppped ; so i replanted and now its growing taller with no flowers -

I was wondering if I can chop it pretty low to start new growth / branching etc. ? and do I need to apply cut paste to the would so it doenst loose moisture ??

    If it's growing taller, then it must be putting out new growth. What takes so long is that the new growth needs to mature. What type of hibiscus are you talking about?

    Usually these are chopped back like you describe in late winter/early spring to give them enough time to bloom during summer and fall. When you prune, you don't need any sealant for the cuts.
