Does this happen often?

I purchased a unnamed hibiscus for my mom for mothers day and it had "normal" looking single leaf blooms on it when I planted it for her. Then about a week and a half ago I went over to visit and I found this bloom and one other that looked about the same as this one on it. Does this happen often?

    Looks like it loves where you placed it. I understand that some when they mature go from a single to doubles. Someone else may have a better answer.
