White substance on soil

Hello, Another newbie question: There is some sort of white substance on the top of the soil around one of my hibiscus plants. Any ideas what this might be? I can post a photo if necessary.

It might be a fungus/mold. How much are you watering it. If you water it to much it might get mold/fungus on the soil. I would scrape it off the top to prevent the plant from dying. Please post a photo and I can probably answer your question for sure.
