Anyone get malvaviscus blooming in z6 or 7?

I've been told it needs to get bigger than I can grow it up north before it blooms - that the roots get too massive to lift in the fall.

What type of malvaviscus? Can you be more specific? Arborea drummondii?

I believe it is Turks Cap - arborea - don't know about the drummondii. I grew it from seed, have never seen it flower. The leaves have the arborea shape.
