mite infested hibiscus

I have very matured Hibiscus to heal. I have just moved into a home. It appears as if all the plants have been neglected for years. The Hibiscus is infested with mites. I have sprayed with water not sure if it has helped. I don't have very much water pressure. Any suggestions? Should I use bug killers? Just keep spraying with the water hose? Cut it down or what?

Hibiscus are usually very resistant to bugs. I'd give it a good spray of insecticidal soap, or dust it with Sevin or something similar. One treatment ought to be enough.

    Good luck

If they are mites, direct hits of insecticidal soap will work. Sevin won't

My Hibiscus is all whiteon the base. It is like a fur. Also, there are white bugs flighting. It is really scary. This hapened in a matter of 2 or 3 weeks. The problem is that my Hibiscus is very big, making difficult to fix the problem. I really do not know what to do. The pictures that I have seen with regular mites, do not look like what my Hibiscus has, because is really furry. What can I do????
