hibiscus rooting

I have a hibiscus stalk that does not have any root attached. Can I cut this stalk (over 3 feet tall) into 5 inch sections and root them in perlite? Will it work?

I recently decided to top one of my tropicals because it was too leggy. I figured I wouldn't have anything to lose by trying to root it. I dipped the cut end into some rooting hormone, stuck it back into the pot beside the mother plant, and covered it with a gallon milk jug with the bottom cut off. I kept the soil moist, but not soggy. After about 4 weeks, it has obviously rooted and is growing nicely. So they seem to be pretty easy to root. I'd think you would be successful.
