storm damage

during tropical storm fay, our 15-20 year old hibiscus was blown over, it wasnt completely uprooted, however 1 root broke and stuck about an inch out of the ground, we've since righted it, and secured it in place with nylon twine and stakes.

I was wondering, is there any chance that it will come back and not die? thanks a lot, i can take pics if needed i suppose :)

Half the job is already done by standing it upright and tying it. Tropical hibiscuses are very hardy and extremely forgiving about repotting, etc. Stand it upright, put soil around it and pack the soil down. Keep it watered daily for the next month or so. I would give it a good fertilizing with one of the blue powdered 20-20-20 products at 1/2 strength and if you have it, feed it with Superthrive.

I have to disagree with the water every day thing. Be careful that you don't drown her!! Check the soil moisture before you water!
