Hibiscus Moscheutos

Hey all,

I live on the water/beach and recently bought and planted a Rose of Sharon and a Hibiscus moscheutos next to it. The Rose of Sharon is fine looking but the moscheutos leaves are getting brown/purple in spots, like purple/brown spots. It is windy here quite often so the moscheutos is staked up just for protection.

I just planted them four days ago in their spots. Is it the wind that caused the moscheutos' leaf problem or is it just the planting/transplantation in new soil and conditions? Thanks.

J

    Please help!

More of the leaves are getting dark and I just don't know what's up. The other day the leaves slightly wilted and perked up with water. The weird thing is that the soil was moist about a half-inch from ground level. What is wrong? I'm gonna lose it if I can't figure this out. Any help would be so appreciated!!!

J - Did the leaf spot clear up on its own? I recently purchased Luna Pink Swirl even with the leaf spot because the price was so low, figured if it didn't clear up next year, would not hurt to toss $$ wise. I purchased two and then cut one up and put each of the cut branches in water on my sill. All of the leaves fell off the branches but I am getting roots and the stem is still green. Maybe I will get new healthy growth.

    Hey Karen,
The leaves are still growing. They don't look THAT great but I believe it's just because of it being relatively recently planted and also it's really windy where I have it.
From what I've read and my experience too, hibiscus are HIGHLY shocky when it comes to transplanting. The fact that you are getting roots is a good sign. Hardy hibiscuses can die all the way back and come back so I would just watch it and baby it if you can.
