    Hi Louisiana Girl

Plants are difficult to id sometimes even with photos, even more difficult with a short vague description.

Not to be splitting hairs, but Texas star IS a hibiscus.

Like I said before, Texas Star is a hibiscus.

I'm not sure what you mean by the flower is shaped like a hibiscus. There are many shapes to hibiscus blooms. There are single, cartwheel overlapping single, windmill single, fringed single, crested single and so on and so forth and them we go to the doubles, semi-doubles, and so on and so forth :-).

There is a plant I think called Fireball that is similar to Texas star, but with a slightly different bloom.

A closeup photo of the bloom might help:-).
