FAQ's?

Do we have any, and if not, do you want some? If we don't, and you do want some, I'll be glad to help maintain them. Please pop over to the suggestions and comments forum and add your comment to the thread I started requesting them (IF we don't have some somewhere).

I wish there were some FAQ's on hibiscus - I actually wish there was a FAQ on ALL forums!!! :)

If anyone is interested, please go over and post a message of support at the Suggestions and Comments forum. I've asked for one.

In the meantime, since we know we have to compile one, I'd be willing to set it up somewhere else if you want to go ahead and post here what you think should be on it.

    I have a few:

What is the difference between tropical, Rose of Sharon and hardy hibiscus?

In what zones do tropical hibiscus survive the winter in the ground?

What is a mallow hibiscus? What is a Rose of Sharon?

What is the best fertilizer for tropical hibiscus? Rose of Sharon? Hardy hibiscus? How often do I fertilize?

Why are the leaves on my hibiscus turning yellow?

What are these black bumps on my hibiscus stems? How do I get rid of them?

How do I treat spider mites?

Why won't my buds open? Why do my buds fall off? What's eating my buds?

    Why won't my hibiscus bloom?

    What's eating my hibiscus leaves?

    Will hibiscus bloom in shade?

How do you get tropical hibiscus to grow into a tree?

    What is a "weeping hibiscus"?

    How do I plant/transplant a hibiscus?

    How often do I water?

Why isn't my tropical hibiscus setting seeds?

How do I overwinter my tropical in a northern climate?

Is it safe to leave my hardy hibiscus in the ground over the winter?

Way to go Bruggirl! I thank you for taking on the FAQ's. You are to be commended. I now hope you get some help with it.

    Thank you,
    Tim

Oh, here's a topic you may want to add to your list.

    Saving and starting from seed.

    Starting from a cutting.

    Great suggestions! Thanks!

I'm working on the answers, and I'll post them somewhere on line and let people comment on them.

This will be fun! I know, I'm crazy. ;-)

Hey! you go girl! I look forward to seeing the FAQ here.
I wish they were on every forum, but I guess there are just no volunteers to do all of them.

How many different types of Hibiscus are there and what are they?...then possibly add a brief description of each.

What are the soil, light, fertilizer, and water requirements for the different hibiscus? and drop the question ... Will my hibiscus bloom in the shade if covered in the light requirements.

What can go wrong with my hibiscus...and then list the different problems that apply to the different ones.

Can I save seed and will the plants from them come true...or something like that. I think too many questions could be overwhelming to some, and by having fewer questions, it might be simpler....to some anyway.

I'll think on this some more...hope you don't think I'm being too picky. lol

    Sue

I think the 2nd question could be addressed in the answer to the last one.

Well.. I 'd like to add a few questions here, since I could really use the answer for myself :)

Is it safe to trim Rose of Sharon?
Should it be trimmed occasionally, regularly or left to grow wild?
If better to trim, how much should be trim at a time?
If left to grow wild, how much could be trim safely not to harm the plant?
When is the best time to trim Rose of Sharon ?
