    Do you have a picture of the foliage? The reds are usually either a H. moscheutos (although the flowers are much bigger than that) or H. rosa-sinensis, which is the tropical hibiscus.

    Hi Jenny
    This is a pic of the foliage from the hibiscus .The petals are shaped like the TEXAS STAR but the flowers are hibiscus .The seed pod is HIBISCUS but is covered and real prickly like a catus but not as stiff and full of seed.The plant is one stalk about 7-8ft tall and each leaf will have flower and later the seed pod.Hope you can tell me what kind of Hibiscus it is.I got two plants from a nursery in Bronson Texas and the owner said this was his first year with it.
