New to Hibiscus

| I just purchased two Hibiscus plants. From what I read online yesterday, I believe one is a hardy plant (dull leaves, with medium sized red flowers) and one is a tropical plant (Voodoo Queen Cajun plant).
I had a hard time finding how tall they will get and if the hardy plant needs to come inside in the winter. I live in Eastern NC. We have some days that linger around 20's in Jan. I know the Tropical plant needs to come inside. I need to know how big they will get for planting requirements. I am thinking I may want to leave the tropical plant in planter box that can be moved easily.
I am hoping I can put the Hardy plant in the ground and not have to worry about freezing. I have also read about using frost clothes for added warmth.
Any suggestions? |

| your hardy hib will be fine, I'm farther north than you are and we get the frost too and mine are fine. I don't mulch it, but maybe I should or do anything special to it in the winter. The variety of hardy hib you have will depend on how tall it will get. I have a Lord Baltimore and it's really tall and leggy, some are smaller- shorter but fuller. If you can post a pic somebody will id it for you so you can know for sure what variety it is. hth. Maria |

| Thanks for the note. I will wait until it blooms tomorrow. Much prettier with blooms. I will send a pic so you can see them. The Voodoo Queen is beautiful! |

| How do I post a picture on here? |

you have to upload a photo to a hosting site. I use myfishpix.com. You can use photobucket, shutterfly, etc. After uploading pic, right click on the imagevand highlight "copy image location" and then paste it into the optional link block under your message block on gw, the name your link. Some load a pic right into the message but I dont know how to do that:0( HTH Maria PS..If you have a problem uploading, email me the image and I'll post it for you. Maria |

| I tried right clicking and the only option was copy, but when I came back here to paste it wouldn't let me. I send attachments all the time, not sure why I can't get it to work. I even tried to save it in my shutterfly albums and copying it that way. When I clicked on email to you - it does the same thing. It lets me copy, but not paste. Weird.. must be something with my computer. The hardy plant seems to be losing it's leaves now. Is that common for this time of year? |
