It appears to be Kopper King - i can't really see the foliage in these pictures, but if the leaves and stalk are a reddish/burgendy color, instead of the usual green, then it is definitely Kopper King.

Looks like Kopper King to me too. Yes, it will come back in zone 5, but may not poke out of the ground until June.
