I'm sure this is a very common type but can anyone give me its official name? Many thanks.

    I'm 95% sure it's a Hibiscus abutilon, common name Flowering Maple.
    Sure is pretty!

    It is extremely beautiful, surprised it does well where you are, England is known for low light conditions.

    As before, with those posted by others when I cut and pasted your typed out link into Google I didn't get anywhere. Can you put it in the Optional Link URL dialog box provided by this site?

    Hibiscus and Abutilon are two different genera in the same family. Many kinds of flowering maples are grown in UK, both outdoors (parts of Britain are quite mild) and "under glass".
