Dinner plate hibiscus

I have a dinner plate hibiscus in a large pot. It is in it's second year. All of the leaves are drying up and falling off currently. I live in zone 10 where it rarely freezes. I am wondering if I need to prune it back. If I do, how much and when. Thanks for any info.

They go dormant, even in SoCal. You can remove the dead stalks to the "ground."
