Margaret, as soon as frost has killed the leaves, I trim the limbs back to ground level, leaving about 6 inches of limb. I cover them with chopped leaves to give the roots added protection during winter, just in case we have a very hard freeze. Around April 1 I remove the mulch. They have usually begun to sprout by then. You may need to adjust the April 1 date by a couple of weeks since you are far north of me. Cut them now, before a hard frost and cut them into 12-16 inch pieces. Pot them up, keep moist and in a well lighted place (artificial light is OK) and by spring you will have new plants to plant and share.

Thanks, Molly and Terry....I have some nice cuttings.
I'm so proud that I'm going to have more of these
beauties. Terry, I have them in water...would they be
    BETTER if potted up?

    Margaret
