Winterizing my DinnerPlate Hibiscus

Posted by mamamona MI (My Page) on

Can anyone tell me which is preferable to mulch my Dinnerplate Hibiscus with: Pine needles, leaves, or other medium? I cut my plant about 8-10 inches from the ground once all the leaves are dead; and have used long pine needles in the past to mulch. Since I live in a very snowy/cold environment; and the plant continues to return/thrive each spring, should I change anything? thanks.
