First bloom of the year. They seem to love cool weather for their blooms.

Lovely! Where did you buy this beauty?

RE: Mahogany Splendor Hibiscus

Hib. Acetosella needs cooler temps to bloom. It is also becoming popular at nurseries during the summer. I have heard it referred to as Haight Ashbury.
Hope it helps.

How large are these blooms? I love the Cajun-type Hibiscus.

The blooms are about 3 inches across. They open in the mornings and close about noon or later depending on the sun and the temp.
