can hibiscus get to be small tree sized

I see what appears to me to be hibiscus here in central Mexico that is tree-like in size, perhaps ten to fifteen feet tall. Very dark leaves with exotic light pink flowers with deep pink to fuschia centers. Is the identification accurate, and if so, are such trees common? I have the perfect place to set one in the ground here if the id is right... Anybody have an idea?

Haven't been to Mexico, but definitely saw hibiscus that big and even bigger in Hawaii, and there are hibiscus with flowers colored as you describe. These are tropical hibiscus and cannot tolerate a frost or freeze. Where do you live?

Yes they will grow to single trunked trees and fairly big if trained to do so, and they were very common in southern CA when I lived there. Not big trees by anyone's standards at a top height of perhaps fifteen to twenty feet, but usually smaller.
