 o
stone fruits in Hawaii?

Hi all,
I've seen references to peaches and apricots grown in Hawaii, but haven't seen the fruit at farmers markets. Do they produce well here? Any suggestions on varieties?
Thanks,
Lee

Both require cold winters.

I've seen both for sale at nurseries in Hilo and Puna, but don't know anyone that has the trees. I think low chill varieties would produce at higher elevations like Volcano or upper Oceanview.

This question has been asked in the past on one of the plant forums I have visited. In response, some one posted a link to a blog which described a trek to an orchard on the Big Island, obviously at some elevation, which had apples, peaches, etc. When I have some time I will try to locate the link.
