My friend Joseph is looking for a tall plant that will be good as a screen. He was told that one called something like false ash - ee - oh - ka would be a candidate. I searched and could not find the plant. Any ideas? Thanks. Ray

You can't find it cause it doesn't exist. Tell him to plant pannax - about 3 inches apart - will grow fast with lots of water and make a wall.

Hi Ray

Your website about growing taro is very nice-i have enjoyed visiting it. Good to see you posting on this forum. Traffic is pretty slow here ; )

Take a look at false aralia. Doesn't sound too much like ashioka but is more common than my next suggestion which is false ashoka. i'll link wiki so you can get a look.

Here is a link that might be useful: polyalthia longifolia

Thanks, good hits. I sent Joseph the link to ashoka - I bet that is the one. (And I just started harvesting a cooking up a little taro, thanks.)
