| Aloha,
Got a few trimmings of this plant off of the fence across the street, and was wondering if anyone knew what it was. I put some rooting hormone on them, and they seem to be coming back to life. It grows medium sized fruits, look like they could possibly be some sort of gourd.
I'm an entomology student and originally picked it due to the small, bright orange, aphids that infested the plant and no others around it. I've only seen its white-ish flowers from a distance. The "gourds" come apart in quarters, and in the center is a pine cone like formation of seeds. The shell of sponge-like flesh dries up and falls away, while the seeds are carried away by the wind.
Sorry the photo isnt the best Ill take another few tomorrow afternoon and post them
Any info or ideas on this plant would be much appreciated, mahalo nui loa in advance,
Aloha,
~Dave

| You have another item on this site looking for Mamaki. Go to the site on Hawaii growers wanted and to Ebay "hawaiian plant mamaki" for two sources. |
