Aloha,

Found this plant about a year ago and took some seeds to plant. Have grown 3 so far, and havent seen this specific one anywhere else ( Though I also have seeds from a red and orange variant ). I was just wondering if anyone knew what family this plant was in or what species it is?

Cut n paste this link to view the photo;

Aloha and much mahalo in advance,

This is reminiscent of a newer type of canna. These newer ones have more compact, pencil-like flowers. Check yessy.com/jvittek. Look under flowers. I think I have a red and white posted and maybe a yellow.

Aloha,

Thanks! I found it yesterday on Hear.org's plant section as well. Great place if you know a part of the name or if you have time to go through the thousands of photos they have posted =] Its listed as a 'Buckshot Canna' (Sci. Name - 'Canna canna indica') I looked it up online and came up with a few resources on it, Ill post one of the links here in case anyone else is interested. Thanks again,

Aloha,
Dave

It was just an educated guess on my part. I am amazed you were able to confirm it. I remember the first time I saw one. It was white and several of us at the plant stand thought it was a type of white ginger.

Well ya nailed it, thanks! A friend told me how to split it as well, and I did so with the younger red variation I have, so I should have a few more soon. Once it sprouts some flowers Ill post the pix ( as long as I remember LoL )

Mahalo again,
~Dave
