Had you have problem with powdery-mildew-like on your tomato plants? I've currently having that problem; the tomato is the strain from UH. I don't wet the leaves when I water it, just the roots. I also don't want to spray it with toxic chemicals, so I'm just crossing my finger that it won't spread further.

What about any heirloom tomatoes? Has anyone had any success with of those in hawaii. I'm not too fond of the seeds that UH provides. they also sell gmo seeds :(

i am jealous snorkeler! i can't seem to get any big tomatoes past the fruit flies. Grew some Black Trifele last year and had some luck with them if i picked them just as they were starting to color up and then let them finish ripening on the windowsill. Not exactly vine ripened ; (

Some plants get a leaf fungus, usually on the lower part of the plant, some worse than others. Plants keep producing and fruiting from the top, tho' so it doesn't seem to affect production. Good circulation helps.
