Berry Tree

Hi All:

Thanks for any help with this as I am relatively new to Hawaii Island and this forum. I have a berry tree growing in my backyard and I am not sure what type of berries these are or if they are edible. They are small purple berries with a pit. Can someone please help me with identification of these? Thanks very much!

RE: Berry Tree

I saw the berry you posted of this tree and I thought it was syzygium cumini, an edible fruit. However, looking at the leaves of the tree, I'm not so sure the correct identification. Is it possible for you to post a close up pictures of the leaves and the inside of the fruit.

RE: Berry Tree

Here is a picture of the tree,,,,,the berry is very small and the pit is almost as large as the berry itself

Berry and Pit

RE: Berry Tree

Nope, that is not the edible purple berry that I know of.
