Camellia growers in Hawaii?

Is anyone on GW growing camellias in Hawaii? We recently visited the Big Island and while driving through Waimea, I saw some camellias in bloom, mostly single reds that jumped out at me from the roadside. I would be interested in knowing what kind of experience you have had growing them in Hawaii and what varieties perform well there.

I have a single red that I planted in partial shade and forgot it. It is about 5 ft tall now and had maybe 5 blooms last year. Beyond that I haven't had much experience in Hawaii. I know they can be a little touchy in some areas on the mainland.

As far as I know, the largest camellia source is Randy Takaki in Volcano. I have also seen small plants at large garden centers. Randy sells large plants.
