It's called Puakinikini, translates to ten-cent-flower. It grows on a small tree with waxy oval leaves & has an inedible fruit. There are white and yellow varieties as well as the orange. Very popular as a landscape plant here in Hawaii.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and came across your posting. May I add my two cents (not ten cents!)
This plant can grow large, but it's branches are quite long and grow to a wide spread. If you plant it, find a sunny spot with lots of space for growth.
The flowers bloom ivory color and turn orange as it ages.

Girl quilter-you don't say where you are from. Here on Maui you can find the plants at Home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart. They are generally air layered. If you live on the mainland you may want to contact Tropical Gardens of Maui-I have seen something call the 'Giant Puakenikeni' sold there-a bit pricey but they do ship to the mainland.
