Lauae fern...No spores?

| I have lauae fern planted along side my home. It has been my experience that the sweet smell of the lauae fern often came from the seed spores on the undersides of the leaves. I have no lauae with spores and no sweet smell coming from them. Does anyone know if there is a type that forms no spores or do I need to supplement with fertilizer. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Mahalo! |

Hey- I figured out the answer to my own posting. I have more lauae fern on the otherside of my home that receives a lot more light than the lauae that doesn't have any spores. The lauae planted in the sun has spores. ahh haaa....looks like it needs more sun. |

My experience is that when these leaves are damaged or cut, the release their almond/vanilla scent. You can cut one, make slashes in it with a pair of scissors and let it dry in the house. kevin |
