Sweet Potato

Several years ago I was visiting Hawaii and had the best tasting sweet potato. It was purple. I do not know the name of this sweet potato and I would love to grow it.
Does anyone from the Islands know the name of this sweet potato?

That would be Okinawan sweet potato. The leaves are used as cooked greens also.

Thank you Leilaniguy, now the search for a source. I know it is to late to plant this year, but hopefully I can find a source and plant some next spring.

Hi Cowgirl June, Here's a source that will ship Okinawan sweet potatoes. http://www.melissas.com/catalog/index.cfm?Product_id=3335&Info=YES
You might try ordering some, and then allowing one to sprout, and plant it.
