Ti leaves used in cooking...

Hi,

I have a recipe for taro pudding and it says to add ti leaves to it. I was just wondering what that is for; does it add flavor? Also, can you use the leaves of any ti plant as long as there are no pesticides? Mahalo.

I've never heard of putting ti leaf into any types of local recipes, however it is often used to wrap food or a dessert in before cooking. Usually dishes that will require steaming. It adds a unique flavor to these recipes. Here's a fun website with some tasty recipes.

Here is a link that might be useful: Alohaworld Desserts

Yeah, that's what I thought they meant, I usually use banana leaves.
