Dose anyone know how to get 'Shampoo Ginger' in Oahu?

When I was little I remember we use to play with this ginger and hit each other on the head before we had to go home after a long day of swimming in the river. In the ginger it has a shampoo like substance and it smells good! I wanted to know if there was anyone out there that had a root or a small plant that needed a home? Thanks, B
