Gardenia yellowing leaves

Posted by tatt Hawaii (My Page) on

Hello,

I have a relatively large gardenia in my yard. It's leaves are yellowing, but the veins remain green. I have given it magnesium rich fertilizer, but haven't seen any change over the past 3 weeks. I have read that the acidity of the soil might be a factor (too alkaline). Is that correct and if so how can I correct it.

Many thanks for your help.

have you tested the ph of your soil? Gardenias love acidic soil. You can supplement the soil with sulfur, or use osmocote fertilizer. I just dump coffee grounds on my gardenias (tahitians and native Hawaiians) and they love it.
