| I doubt that it was from a pine. You seldom see a true pine in Hawaii, especially with a cone like that. Even the Norfolk Pine (which is an Araucaria, not a true pine) has fairly small cones. I'm guessing that what you have came from a cycad. There are a number of species that grow here, but Cycas revoluta and Zamia furfuracea are the most common. |

| 20" is too big for a hala fruit, and it's not really twisted-looking, more segmented. Here's a picture, though, just in case. If you post a picture of the cone, it would be a lot easier. BTW, there is no island of Kona. Kona is a region of the island of Hawaii, also known as the Big Island. |
