What is the type of pine that has a cone roughly
20" long that twists all the way down ?
Parents just brought one back from there trip.

I doubt that it was from a pine. You seldom see a true pine in Hawaii, especially with a cone like that. Even the Norfolk Pine (which is an Araucaria, not a true pine) has fairly small cones.

I'm guessing that what you have came from a cycad. There are a number of species that grow here, but Cycas revoluta and Zamia furfuracea are the most common.

My parents say it was on the island of Kona,
and their were like only 2 trees from where
no one knows.

Maybe you are talking about the screwpine or pandanus, although I'm not familiar with the cone you talk about. Tourists call them pineapple trees because the fruit(?) looks like a pineapple. Lauhala mats are made from the pandanus.

20" is too big for a hala fruit, and it's not really twisted-looking, more segmented. Here's a picture, though, just in case.

If you post a picture of the cone, it would be a lot easier.

BTW, there is no island of Kona. Kona is a region of the island of Hawaii, also known as the Big Island.
