Protea for commercial production

I'll be working a 4 acre protea farm soon. Upcountry (Maui)....could anyone tell me what their favorite proteas, pins, and banksias are? Aloha!

I'm not that familiar with all the variety names, but it's hard to beat a big ol' King Protea. I used a single big pink one as my wedding bouquet, some mmtymmth years ago... ;-) The florist thought I was nuts for not wanting to add anything to it, but it was perfect all by itself.

I'm not crazy about banksias, but a nice mix of assorted proteas and pincushions is always nice. I work the farmer's market, and the Maui produce booth has been bringing in boxes of mixed bouquets this time of year. I think it's $8.00 for 5 flowers. Just lovely.

The mink types are interesting, but their shape makes them kind of hard to use in an arrangement, other than in those mixed bunches. Full open or round ball shapes work better.

Thank you. The farm is mostly "Kings" which can vary from a light yellow pink....to a deeper pink. Yes, they are beautiful on their own! Neat wedding bouquet! Aloha!
