Kukui tree
I love Kukui trees because they provide a ton of shade, have a nice pale green texture and grow to large tall sizes. I transplanted a few from the forest, i tried to remove as much intact soil with the trees as so they think they never even moved (is this plausible?). but as i thought would happen many have experience transplant shock from probably losing a few large roots or maybe jsut smaller ones? i placed them in pots and watered them daily. still look like theyre going to die :(
anyways these kukui seem to be 5 leaved and "most" kukui seem to be the 3 leaved pale green types? are these even kukui? i have not been able to find any explanations about the different variations in kukui. except for a handful of pictures.

What is the deal with these variations? they are paler and 3 leaved while others (such as mine) are 5 leaved and greener?
