Attached is the hillside above our pool. I have been advised of flooding issues and am looking for ideas of what to plant. I would greatly appreciate any ideas! I am a total beginner and need planting advice suitable for dummies!!

At the top you might see my weak attempt of bougainvillea which has already died. Under are a few birds of paradise we recently planted.

While installing the lattice half of the ivy was killed so we are left with roots and dirt! What to do? Plant around it or pull it out? Apparently it prevents flooding.

I've been envisioning a tropical paradise of pink flowers everywhere, and have been considering pink vinca as a groundcover. Was hoping for a gorgeous wall of bougainvillea. I like lighter green leaves and all shades of pink. Also would consider white flowers...
