Hillside Gardening

Need advice on hillside landscape

I have a hillside that is impossible to mow, so I am going to do a nice landscape. I'd like it to be kept in the style of my house. The railroad ties will be extended one more towards the back of the property. I think Creeping Phlox would be good on the tiers or Muhly Grass. This side of the house gets about 75-90% sun during the day. I don't want to plant anything like ivy as I don't want it growing into my neighbors yard. I would like this to be low maintance, but somewhat colorful, not all evergreen. I plan on dwarf shrubs along the house. Any ideas?

The hill does not look so bad so I think you have a lot of options. The phlox and the muhly grass would like nice. Sedums will be able to handle dryness as will bee balm. Various prairie flowers would probably look great.
