staying true to the site

We are quickly approaching the point in our build when we will know what (if any) funding we'll have left over for landscaping. We are on an 8 acre, naturally terraced site overlooking the river valley. I've posted a link to our blog below... if you look at the postings, particularly the earliest ones, you'll get a good feel for our space. The natural rock outcroppings/ledges are beautiful and perfectly executed; weathered to perfection over time. My question is how can I mimic their look in any terraces, paths, garden walls that we add to the 'garden'? I want things to look very natural or at least that it has been that way for a very, very long time... If I can just get the 'bones' right, I think everything else will fall naturally into place.

Here is a link that might be useful: Il Poggio Secco
