Hmmm... let's see, how can I put this? If you are going to live out on the land, you've just gotta have a manly man. One that can weld, smack things really hard with a hammer, grab a sick hog and hold it down while you give it medicine, get the pump working, and work long hard hours in miserable conditions. This kind of stuff requires testosterone, no substitutes accepted... As to the amenities you mentioned, don't worry, you'll have a washing machine- that's non-negotiable. As to the rest, a lack thereof will be the least of your worries. Suggest you try-before-you-buy.

Man or no-man, I would think you had better familiarize yourself with basic mending skills and such. Are you the type of person who likes to figure out how things work? Can you take apart a simple machine, and put it back together and it will still work? Our pioneer ancestors didn't always have a blacksmith or tinker handy to mend their tools. They did it themselves, and learned to improvise when they couldn't. If you are serious about living "off the grid" and fending entirely for yourself AND still have the electric convenieces you now enjoy, you had better plan on investing in wind and solar power and learning how to maintain and repair them when needed.
