Making progress

We're made a lot of progess on our 10.5 acres since we purchased it less than 1 month ago. We've planted about 60 trees, cleared trash piles, mowed the lawn, removed an old shed, and almost gutted an old pole barn. (We've filled 2 20 cu yd dumpsters so far!) It's so beautiful out there! We're looking at houseplans, but can't afford to build what we want for 2-3 years. I'm working on my homesteading skills in suburbia while we work on our land. Check out my blog for the story and the photos!

RE: Making progress

You've accomplished a tremendous amount - especially in light of the fact that you have to live/work off your rural land.

Have a look at Doug's new homesteading site (he's got a link to it in his announcement on one of the new posts on this page). The GardenWeb "Homesteading" site has become pretty inactive for some reason. Doug's new site is a gateway to a lot of good info, and I'm hoping this new site - when it's really up and running - will be a place where a lot of discussion can occur.

RE: Making progress

Joel,
We don't live there. We live in the suburbs about 40 away. We'll build a new home in a few years out there and sell our current home. I will check out the website soon.
