Homegrown peaches [swoon]

| We aren't on our acreage yet, but DH planted a Redhaven (hardy variety) peach tree 2 years ago in our side yard. Last year a critter got all 7 fruits before we could. We came home to find a little ring of perfectly cleaned peach pits all around the tree. LOL
But this year we picked them just a bit early - when there was just a bit of greenish tinge around the stem end and they were still pretty hard. After a couple of days ripening in a bowl of apples, they were ready to eat. And OH MY GOSH, I haven't had such nice peaches in years! The flesh wasn't mealy like storebought California peaches, it was reasonably sweet considering we picked it a bit early, and it was so juicy - an elbow-wiper! Delicious! We are definitely going to plant more of these when we get on our property. :) |

| Peaches are one of the great joys of life, I agree. Be sure to plant three varieties -- one early, one mid- and one late-season. You'll be swamped and delighted. |

| What varieties do you recommend for the Midwest? Can you recommend a good nursery for quality plants? |
