You can grow wheat in Texas?

Apparently, nobody here knows the answer, so I suggest that you check with your farm extension agent. He should know.

I don't mean to offend, but did you buy wheat seed? If so, the feed store should know when to plant it.

If you bought feed wheat, I am not sure that it will grow. Any feed wheat that I've ever purchased has already been hulled. Since it is not intended to be seed, it might be "damaged" to the point that it won't grow.

Also, you are going to get lots of weeds if you don't use cleaned and certified seed.

Try sprouting a little to make sure it's viable. Just soak for an hour then wrap in paper towel. That will gone you an idea if it will grow. Also what variety of wheat. Does it say on the package. I'm thinking of doing a little wheat for same reason. I understand that ancient grains will go deeper and grow on poor soil. I'm considering sorghum so i can try syrup and grain.

You can look up maturity time if you have type of wheat.
