The missing link ?

I didnt know where to post this but I guess its the most appropriate forum.

I just saw a brief documentary about Velvichia mirabilis, a plant described as the missing link between gymnosperms and angiosperms.

Heres a photo found on this page (translated from Portuguese).

It grows in South Angola and the Namibian desert.
Anyone knows more about this curiosity ?

Thank you both for your info.

No wonder I couldnt find much with this spelling - but I had to figure it out myself, having only heard it [Vel-vee-tchee-ah], not seen it writen.

Well Charles, I just missed that thread on the Trees forum. Ill go and read it carefuly. Merci !
