Thanks so much for all the pretty plant pictures! I noticed you have a fern in a pot. I am going to try some in with all my potted hostas. Do you have any tips for potted ferns?

My tip for the fern is that it will have to go into the ground this year! It's one of those tall (ostrich I think?) ones. It looked good early but faded to brown too quickly. It'll definately get planted. I had better luck with a hardy maidenhair fern that's been in a pot for a couple years. It had to be moved because the sprinkler system flattened it every day. It's all trial and error it seems. I was just thinking today of getting a nice boston fern house plant to put in that urn. That might work out better.

I just looked at your home page. Your pictures are fantantic. For some reason I thought mctavish was male. Guess again!!
We're a zone 4 here. I was hoping with the crazy warm weather we had the beginning of this winter that we would be upgraded to a zone 5!!! No such luck these last couple of weeks. Negative temperatures with no snow cover. We'll probably lose more plants because of it.
On 04/22/206 I had some dafodils blooming in the sunny part of my garden. The rest was metal nametags which look like grave markers in the off season.

Well,McT,this pic from last year,was taken Feb.26,but the plants broke ground Feb.6th. Most of my hostas break ground during the month of March,and by April 10th all of them are up. Daffodils are already up about 3 inches,and some Tulips have broken ground also,but this year has been weird! Phil
