OK you bird sperts ....

smaller than what i call a sparrow [probably a house wren or something like that] .... bigger than a hummer ....

brownish red head top ... battleship grey body ... brown and black with a little grey wings ...

saw daddy feeding the babe in the lawn .. chirping away happily ....

Sounds like a chipping sparrow. If it has "black eyeliner" that would confirm it.
