Uummmmmm...I say 'no'. If a pic adds to the topic of the post, it should be allowed to stand with the post, wherever that post might be posted.

Hmmm, okay Marsha. But what if someone starts a thread titled 'Grecian Lace', and then the thread simply says; "Here's a pic I took of my Grecian Lace this morning," and posts a pic.

In the spirit of the structure of the forums doesn't that really belong in the gallery?

Well, that's a tough call. I, personally, don't go to the gallery on a regular basis. I guess I just expect to see and read things on the forum as they ebb and flow. Maybe that's going to change, too.

I hope the Forum doesn't becomes such a sterile environment full of rigid rules and 'policies' that it becomes more of a burden than a pleasure to visit.

Another question I have is how do we let new people know we are over here without breaking the rules?

I would LOVE to see more people using the gallery! I know I am as guilty as the next of posting photos in the main forum, but jeez, we HAVE a gallery, let's use it!

I say everyone go over to the gallery now and post your favorite hosta photos of the summer. Let's start a trend!

And as far as newbies, unless they are completely new to GW they probably are familiar with the "Conversations" sections from other forums. We are one of the last to get a COnversations section, I think all the other forums already have them and all the new forums being added automatically get a Conv section.

I'm home just for a minute--but, about the Conversation thing being "unnoticed"
by "newbies"--what if someone posts a thread on the "other side" saying "Newbies
be sure and check out the CONVERSATIONS option of this forum!"
Then from time to time bump it back up for "notice"?
