RE: WANTED: hosta seeds

Hey Micke

Not trying to dampen your enthusiasm
but wanted to tell you that for the most part
Hostas don't come true to parent from seed.
The seeds from the specific cultivars on your
list would be mostly green babies that might
show a bit of variance in shape or form.
They take years to get large enough to show
you what their eventual outcome will be.
If you want to try seeds anyway for fun &/or
practice you can probably get many of these
for free at a local nursery from August to
October. Make sure the pods are ready to
split open on their own before removing them
from the petiole.
Go to the FAQ section here and look for posts
about hostas from seed. Lots of valuable
information that will help you a lot with growing
them from seeds.

Good Luck
