Yes, Mocc, that's a glass-top table with an umbrella hole.

I forgot one. Here's my 'Frisian Pride'. Really liking this one! It's a rapid grower for me-I can't wait to see it next year.

What, no Frost Giant yet? I can't believe it.

Here he is, in the fall, starting to suffer a bit and head down for the winter. I seemed to have taken many more fall pics this year than anything else. Planning to load up this spring with pics, though. I'm going to be more prepared for the alphabet next year!

    BChosta,

I think the plant you have is called Clifford's Forest Fire. I'm glad you posted it. It's a beauty.

I don't believe the Moon landing was a hoax, but I think the 'Fragrant' part of H. 'Fragrant Blue' sure is. : P

I'll believe it when I smell it...

All those mature Frances Williams' pictures do look lovely.

Great idea McTavish---combining the leaves of hosta to show seasonal change. You did it so well I almost missed it!

Don, The Hostapedia comments that "'Fragrant Blue' is notable for its good blue foliage and fragrant flowers and was the first registered cultivar to combine the two." Mine has a mild fragrance.

I bought this hosta way before I ever became a hostaholic. It has done really well for me even though, I am sure, it is almost suffocating with maple tree roots. This spring I will be coming to its rescue and freeing it.

Hey, NHL, how did YOU get the fragrant one?? ; P

Frances Williams - Even though these FW's get only about 2 hrs of early morning sun they still leaf burn and will be replaced with Olive Bailey Langdon.

    Squirejohn,

It's not sun that gives FW that Spring desiccation that you see. It's wind and lack of water that dries it out. FW can be finicky, but when you find the right spot and leave it alone it can be lovely. Notice that it's mostly the margins that show the desiccation. This past Spring was windy and dry and I saw that on a number of different golds this year. If you can get FW in a wind protected spot, it will look better.

H.'Olive Bailey Langdon' can also burn. I had one in 2 hrs sun with watering, and it burned. I moved that one to shade. My FW show some burns in September, but which hostas are still perfect then. In an older AHS Journal I just read that one famous hybridizer did most of his work with FW using its positive traits, so figure. Bernd

This hosta (in my opinion) deserves the title of 2010 Hosta of the Year and the 2013 Benedict Garden Performance Medal it was awarded.

Don, my Fragrant Blue comes from a long time hostaholic who now divides his own hosta and sells them occasionally. But I have noticed that Hallson Gardens says that the FB it sells is mildly fragrant also.

What a beautiful show this hosta puts on in the spring!

Steve - Thanks for the info on FW. I have four and all are pretty much protected from the wind. This spring I'll give them plenty of water and see what happens.

Bernd - Thanks, I didn't know that about OBL. I'll follow Steve's advise and see how that works My FW's are pretty large being some of the first I bought (1989) and would rather not move them. I do however have to reset two in TEX-R fabric due to invasive (insert cuss words here) tree roots.

First Frost after 2 years. Seems kind of slow but by the looks of others here, it will be worth the wait.

Frances Williams, crowded by the ferns. I've had these for at least 8 years. I've divided them a couple times, moved several times and have never looked any better than they do here. Going to move them again in the spring and will give them lots and lots of water. If that doesn't help they are going to the back of the woods for the deer.

Old dirt, that's how FW looks for me, too. It comes up with brown splotches. We don't have any deer here, though.
